Announcing TPS Season 9

The Greatest Show in Illyria

Thank you to everyone who attended our summer production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. The Community Players performed two wonderful shows, one at the historic Old Church Winery and the second at the McAllen public Library. Audiences were treated to one of Shakespeare's most well loved comedies set in the world of a vintage circus. Mischief and laughs were bountiful. See what audience members had to say:

"It was hilarious! Loved the creative costumes as well."

- audience member from the June 27 show at the Old Church Winery

Season 9 Sponsors Wanted

At The Player's Studio we believe that Community Theatre should be for the whole community and BY the community. That means we delight in partnering with people all across the RGV. As we prepare for Season 9 one important way that the community can be involved is through Sponsorships. The money raised through these incredible business partners helps us pay for construction materials, costumes, and class supplies all while keeping the cost of the program affordable for families. New sponsor info will be released soon. In the meantime check out last season's information to get an idea of the different levels and benefits available. Join the team and be part of helping TPS bring stories to life on the stage.

PRODUCTIONS

Our Season 8 School Productions

Every Season our homeschool classes present a variety of productions for the public. These programs represent the original foundation of The Player's Studio. Over the course of the past eight seasons we have done dozens of shows. Head to our Productions page here on the website to get an overview of all the wonderful shows we have done through the years. You'll also have a chance to see The Community Players productions and our collaboration with the Rio Grande Valley Down Syndrome Association. You can even see some of our programs, too.

A Christmas Carol

Charles Dickens' beloved classic comes to the stage with Dickens himself as part of the story. Ebeneezer Scrooge is synonymous with greed and misery. He has allowed his heart to become cold and bitter and the people of London fear him. But from beyond the grave his deceased friend Jacob Marley offers Scrooge a second chance. Three ghosts take the old man on a journey that will change Scrooge forever. The High School Players and the Junior Players combined to bring this story of redemption to life for the RGV in December of 2024.

Peter Rabbit Tales

Founder and director Karen Culbertson crafted this stage Production especially for the Young Players. Combining three of Beatrix Potter's rabbit Tales we follow Peter and his cousin Benjamin Bunny as they jump from one troublesome adventure to another. Along the way audiences meet many of the favorites characters that populate Potter's world. Peter's sisters seek out their own adventure, Thomasina Mouse saves the day, Squirrel Nutkin strives to keep the peace and even the Puddle Ducks get a mention. This was an adorable show enjoyed by all performed in the fall of 2024.

Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars

Sherlock Holmes is the world's most famous detective. But we would be mistaken to think he does it all without help. We're not talking about Watson; we mean The Baker Street Irregulars. From his first famous mystery Holmes has employed the help of some of London's street children to gather information. Now these youngsters are crime solvers in their own right. They are about to solve their most important mystery of all - who killed Sherlock Holmes. The Junior Players were thrilled to bring this show to audiences in the Spring of 2025.

Peter Pan: Saving Neverland

The classic Children's tale by JM Barrie gets a little twist in this new adaptation by The Players. Peter Pan once again whisks Wendy and her brothers off to Neverland for high adventure and big fun. However, not all is well in the land where children never grow up. Tiger Lily is done with Peter's games, Peter's reckless behavior is causing trouble for the children and Captain Hook has decided to take Neverland for the pirates. Peter will have to do the unthinkable, mature! At least enough to understand that everyone needs help once in a while, that friends come from unexpected places, and that strength in numbers is far better than going it alone. Can he do it in time to save Neverland? The high school class produced this magical tale in the Spring of 2025, closing out the official productions of Season 8.
